“Our clients need 100% uptime. I just want to be able to delegate that work and then forget it. By partnering with the IT team it allows us to have a much better organised business.
We have one point of contact at the I.T. team and I get one invoice per month that covers all those services. All that’s taken care of by the I.T. team.”

Christchurch based content marketing specialists The Small Business Company (or TSBC as they are usually known) are actually anything but small.
They provide content creation and delivery services to banking clients around the world, including Bank of America, Yorkshire Bank, Ulster Bank, ANZ, BNZ and more.
Location: Christchurch based, serving international clients
Sector: Business services
Services provided: Managed Services, Datacentre Services
100% up-time for the provision of content hosted on TSBC’s servers is mission critical for this company to meet its commitment to its clients.
Before they started working with the I.T. team, TSBC employed their own in-house IT manager who was responsible for ensuring server performance, as well as providing support to TSBC clients around the world.
“A lot of time was spent on the nuts and bolts of our business. We didn’t want our general manager or one of our IT staff to have to stop their work to handle issues like password resets or server issues. We chose to contract that work out instead so the IT team could handle it and our staff could carry on with their work without interruptions,” says business owner and CEO Glen Senior.
Chief executive Glen Senior says the company made a decision to contract out their IT work in May 2012, effectively ensuring that “they get to do the boring stuff and we get to do the fun stuff.”
As marketers, sales people and content creators, manning help desks and responding to requests for password resets was not their core business, so it made sense to contract the work out.
The I.T. team took over the management of TSBC servers in New Zealand, Australia, the United States and the UK, providing managed services, monitoring of servers and patching as required, and allowing TSBC’s experts to focus on what they do best – the creation of great content and compelling business support tools for their clients.
